Just an Illusion

In 1985, a boy nearing his thirteenth birthday lives with his middle-class family in the Paris suburbs. His older brother dismisses him, and his parents argue constantly. As adolescence approaches, he begins to question his place among family and friends while discovering his first romantic feelings.

The filmmakers chose adolescence in the 1980s as their subject, drawn to the decade’s creative energy. Video clubs, independent radio and new television channels form part of the characters’ world.
