What is Dolby Atmos in a cinema?

It is an immersive sound system that supports audio placed and moving around the auditorium, including overhead. The film’s Atmos mix determines how those effects are used.

Is Dolby Atmos the same as Dolby Cinema?

No. Dolby Atmos is the sound technology. Dolby Cinema combines Dolby Atmos with Dolby Vision projection and a cinema design specification. An Atmos listing alone does not indicate a Dolby Cinema.

Do I need 3D glasses for Dolby Atmos?

Only if the screening is also in 3D. Atmos describes the sound, so check the picture format on your chosen session.
