THE IMAX EXPERIENCE
The film, projection system and auditorium all shape an IMAX screening. Knowing the differences helps you choose.

01 / SCALE
IMAX combines a large screen with purpose-designed projection, sound and seating geometry. Some films also offer an expanded image in IMAX. How much of the picture opens up depends on the film and the theatre’s system.

02 / PROJECTION
IMAX with Laser uses laser projection for image brightness, colour and contrast. It describes the projection system; 2D or 3D describes the viewing version. An IMAX label alone does not promise a 70mm print or the same screen shape at every venue.
Open a film above to see matching IMAX sessions. Check the language and subtitles alongside the format.
Use the cinema’s own details to confirm its projection system and seating plan, especially if a particular presentation matters to you.
The operator’s booking page shows the selected session’s price, seat availability and applicable offers.
GOOD TO KNOW
No. IMAX screenings can be in 2D or 3D. Look at the exact session label before booking; the IMAX name by itself does not mean glasses are required.
Only where the film’s IMAX version and the theatre support it. Expanded scenes and aspect ratios vary by release, so check the distributor or cinema’s information for that film.
No. Laser refers to a digital projection system; 70mm refers to film projection. Check the specific presentation advertised by the operator.
The films and cinemas above come from IMAX sessions in our current catalogue. Choose a date or area, then open a film for showtimes and operator booking links.
Use the auditorium’s seating plan and your preferred viewing distance. A closer seat fills more of your view; a seat farther back may make the whole screen easier to take in. Check accessible seating with the cinema.
