THE MX4D EXPERIENCE
Movement timed to the movie
MX4D is MediaMation’s motion and effects cinema system. The seats and effects are programmed to accompany the action on screen.
01 / SEAT MOVEMENT
Feel the turns and changes of pace
Motion seats tilt and move in time with the film. The programme follows individual scenes, so movement changes as the story unfolds.
02 / SENSORY EFFECTS
Effects around your seat
Seat effects and atmospheric effects add physical sensations to selected moments. MCL Telford describes its MX4D theatre as offering 11 types of effects alongside seats that move in multiple directions. The effects used depend on the film and installation.

GOOD TO KNOW
MX4D questions, answered
What is MX4D?
MX4D combines a film with synchronised seat movement and special effects. MediaMation develops the system, and the motion programme is matched to the film.
Is MX4D the same as 4DX?
They are different branded cinema systems. Both offer motion and effects, but a 4DX ticket is not an MX4D session. Use the matching format filter when comparing showtimes.
Does MX4D mean the film is in 3D?
No. MX4D describes the motion and effects experience. MCL also lists 2D MX4D sessions; check the cinema’s version details for your screening.
Where can I watch MX4D in Hong Kong?
MCL Telford in Kowloon Bay and MOVIE TOWN at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin advertise MX4D theatres. Use the current listings above to find films and sessions at participating cinemas.
How much are MX4D tickets?
Prices vary by cinema, film and session. Compare the prices shown beside each time and confirm the final total on the cinema’s booking page.
Why are no MX4D screenings showing for my date?
There may be no matching sessions in the current listings. Try another date or remove an extra filter, then check MCL’s programme for further dates.
